Circle pop up card Tutorial

Hello,

I thought I should update this circle pop up card tutorial.  When sharing your finished creations using my tutorial, please give me credit by having a link to my blog.  Thank you in advance.

Here is the circle pop up card tutorial.  Sorry I DO NOT have the PDF file.  If someone willing to point me the direction of where I can learn/get the PDF file, I really appreciated.  So for now  I am going to show you the step by step to make the template for the circle pop up card.

Here are the measurements.  You can change the measurement to any size you like base on the circle cutter you have.
For the card base, I used a 5" circle.  Cut off shaded area (3/4").  This is the card base template.  Use this template to cut out your card base.
Here is how to cut out your card base.
Card Base: 5 x 8 1/2 fold in half

Trace your template on the card base and cut  around the traced mark

Your card base should look like this when open.  Put it aside.

Second circle, I used a 4 3/8 inches.  Cut off shaded area (1/2").  This  is used for the layer on the front of the card.

Layer card: 4 x 4 1/2

This is what the card front looks like before decorated.

But the WOW of this card is the inside.

So, here is how to make the inside template.

Cut a third circle,  4 1/8 inches. Fold the circle in half one way then fold it again the other way. You should have four equal quarters. Draw the lines like in the picture and cut those two small sections off. You'll have a cone shape.

Round a bit more off at the top of the cone. This will be used for the inside template.

For the inside of the card, I used a 28 lb. paper.  I tried Whisper White card stock but it was a bit too thick.  This is a 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 paper.

Fold in half once,  unfold.

Then fold diagonally and unfold.

Fold diagonally one more time and unfold.

Then fold your piece in like this.

and press it down. You should have two layers.
Use your inside template (cone shape) and make a trace.   Then cut it out.

You should have this.  Decorate your inside piece any way you like before gluing it to the inside of the card base.

After you are done decorating, fold it back the same way, like this.

When placing the inside piece onto the card base, make sure the edge is line up evenly.  The tip (point) of the cone is right at the center of the card.

See here, it looks a little off because it wasn't line up evenly.

Your first card is going to take sometime.  But once you have your templates, the next time you create this pop up card it is going to be very easy.

I love to see your finish card.  Would you leave me a link when you've made one?
If you have question about this tutorial, don't hesitated to ask me.  May be someone has the same question. I love to hear from you.

Thank you for visiting me again today.

Hugs,
Helen
