Kusudama

Hello,

 My son, Jay, helped  fold these kusudama pieces two years ago.  I just assembled them last week.
This time I painted glitter glue all around the kusudama and they turned out oh so pretty.

 I made simple box to go with it.  I was thinking of making matching box but decided not too.

Origami Father's Day Card

Good Morning,

Father's day is this coming Sunday so I thought I made a card or two.  My husband doesn't care about receiving a card so I didn't give this card to him. This is a quick and easy origami.  There are many tutorial on Youtube.

The wind must be blowing while I was making this tie because the tie is a bit off. lol

Hello,

There are so many origami dress tutorials on Youtube.  I found this one the easiest to do.

I used 4 x 4 inches thin pattern paper for this dress.

Dime-n-Ring Tutorial

Hello,

I did this tutorial before but the wording were not clear.  Therefore, I am redoing the tutorial and hopefully it will be clearer this time. 

 You will need a crisp new bill. The bank is the best place to get new crisp bills.

Step 1: Starting with the bill face up, fold it in half, lengthwise, crease well,  then unfold.

Step 2: Fold  the edges to the center, crease well. 

Step 3: Fold in half like shown.  Crease well
Step 4:  This is a two step folds.
              Step 4a.  Fold the corners in to the center (so it looks like a triangle) crease well and unfold.
            Step 4b. Open the triangles and push  in.  Repeat the other side.
Your bill should look like this. Check to make sure there are two layers: the top layer and the bottom layer.
Step 5: Fold the top layer like shown in the picture.
Step 6: still working with the top layer, fold the edges in to the center,  crease well.
Step 7: Turn the bill over. Repeat step 5 and 6. Except when you fold the top and the bottom edges to the center, over lap the edges  (see next picture)

Step 8: Bring the top layer over to the right. You should have a box.  Note: if you don't have the box, go back to step 4. Make sure you did step 4 correctly.
Step 9: Tuck the smaller edge into the bigger edge to form the ring band. See picture.
Finish off by place a dime in the box. If the dime doesn't fit,  place a glue dot on the box and press the dime in.
Congratulations! You've just made a dime-n-ring!

Money Bouquets

Hello,

After many days of thinking and searching through the web, I finally finished with the 3 money bouquets, yay! To make the long story short, here is what I have.

I found this bouquet from google that I really like

Then after many trips to Joann Fabric and Micheal's Art & Crafts, this is what I came up with.

 I know not very impressive but that was the start.  I made each flower like that then I put the 9 flowers together and this is what I had

I made the 3 bouquets the same except I used one color for each bouquet.

These are the pix (I think that what they were called) that I used for the 3 bouquets.  I got these from Micheal's art and crafts in 3 different colors.  The evergreen, not in the photo, were from my poor artificial Christmas tree that was stuck in the basement for a few years now.

The bouquets looked much better in person.  I knew I'd said that many times.  I am sure  many of you understand what I meant.  It was very hard for me to take pictures of 3D object especially in a small space that I have.

I really like how the bouquets turned out but I was a little concerned  that Eileen might not like it.  I delivered to her the other day and as soon as she opened the door and saw the bouquets she loved them!  and of course I was very happy.

Can you picture that money bouquet for up coming Valentine's Day and Mother's Day? Oh, I can't wait to make them! That is how my brain is working.  Always thinking.......about what to create next but for everything else I take it one day at a time.  :)

Lots Of Kusudamas

I am still around. I haven't fall off blog land yet.  I took time off from blogging because I was busy making these

I made about 20 of them.

Here is how I assembled them. I folded all the pieces that I need.  Then I glued each piece and I used paper clips to hold the piece together.

After the glue dried, about 5 - 10 minutes, I took them  off the paper clip and pushed them open and glued 2 pieces together like shown

I waited until the glue dried, then I glued that 2 pieces together

I waited again until the glue dried then I glued the last piece in to make the petal or whatever you called that 5 petals piece.

Although the petals looked the same, but they were not.  Once the glue is completely dried, I took the 12 petals and tried to fit them together like a puzzle.

They are beautiful but my favorite are the white and the purple one.

Paper Bow Tutorial

Good Morning,

If you are new to this post, welcome, I am glad you are here.  If you are a return visitors, I am glad you are back again.

Please respect my time and my willing to share.  If you made the origami bow using this tutorial and you have either one of these facebook, yahoo group, blog, twitter and others  please share the link to this tutorial.  Sharing is what making blogging fun.

I saw this origami bow tutorial here.  However, it was in another language and many of you needed a written tutorial plus pictures tutorial, so here it is. 

A 3" x 3" paper would make a nice bow for greeting cards.  I used 4" square for the bows that I made for the cake here.

A thin pattern paper would make a beautiful bow.

If you are using double side pattern paper place the side that you want down.

Mountain fold horizontally, crease well, then unfold. Rotate 90 degree

mountain fold, crease well and unfold.

you should have this.

Flip the paper over, valley fold diagonally, crease well, and unfold. Rotate 90 degree

valley fold, crease well and unfold.  You should have this: 2 mountain fold lines  that looked like a plus sign.  And 2 valley folds that looked like an "X".

Follow the creased lines and fold your paper like this

Press it down and fold the "closed" side about 1/2" down like the picture below, crease well.

Open your paper completely like shown.  As you can see there is a small square in the center and the creased lines are not the same.

You are going to mountain fold those lines or the small square.

refold the paper like the 7th picture above except

you will push the small square down like this

you paper now should look like this with two layers.

fold the top corners down like this

turn the paper over and repeat

you are going to open the paper,  making sure your folds (small square) stays in place.

it should look like this after you opened the paper.

Turn the paper over, make sure you place your paper like in the photo.   Cut at the fold (where the black lines are.)

After the cut you should be able to move the two pieces up and down. These two pieces will be the bow tails. 

Fold the top piece down and fold the edges

of the side pieces down like shown

fold the other edges up and over lab the previous fold  a bit. 

now working on the bow tails, fold the edges in then cut both pieces at the center where the black line is (make sure don't cut the small square on the bottom)

then fold it like shown

turn it over

fold the bow tip under the center square

cut the bow tails and you are done!  It wasn't too hard right!

I was in a rush putting this tutorial together so some phrase might not be clear but I was hopping the pictures will help.
