Big Shot Rag Purses

Good Morning Everyone!

Look what I had been doing over the weekend! I didn't want to be left alone so I joined the fun.  I made these rag purses that are so popular among Stampin' Up! demos.   These rag purses used the stampin' Up! scallop square die. 

I don't sew but I do own a decent sewing machine.  I bought it seven years ago trying to sew curtains  panels for our new home.  I remembered I couldn't even sew a straight line so I ended up crochet the edge of the panels, there were more than 10 of them.  And the sewing machine had been sitting in the basement collecting dust for all these years until this past weekend.

I don't know anything about fabric, so I was in and out of Joann Fabric 4 times last week.  I know outragouse, isn't it?  This is my second rag purse.  Second!  The first one was no longer a purse. You won't believe what fabric I had used for my first purse! No sew fleece.  I was looking for fabric that required minimum sewing and thought the no sew fleece is perfcet except it too soft.  So after I was done with the purse, the purse won't stand and the handle stretched.

So I went back to Joann Fabric and got these from the clearnce rack.  I didn't really like it. 

I went back again and got this.  I don't know if it's the colors or the patterns but I like it better than the second one.  I didn't have fancy button so I made two roses for the purse,  one rose for the front

and another one for the back or the side.

These rag purses can be so addicted so you are going to see a few more.

Cake in the box/Magic box

Hello Everyone,

I couldn't believe it's March already.  When I posted yesterday, I didn't even realized that it's March.  Then after my children went to school, it hit me! It's March!

Anyway let's get to today post.  I made this magic box for my little neighbor.  I believe she is 6.   I gave it to her but didn't know if she likes it.  I added lots of flowers.  Each flower consisted of 3 flower punches.  There were a total of 24 flowers punches for the lid.  Then  I added more flowers around the box base.

Here is the inside.  More flowers around the 3 tiers cake, 36 flower punches to make the 12 flowers around the cake.  Each punched flower was sponged, then crumble, and open back up and assemble to give demensional.

I am not a pink person.  So when ever I used pink, I always tried to tone it down.   With all the flowers, I decided  to just add white butterflies around the side panel to match the outside box.

Another TopNote Dresser

Good Morning,

This is the same post from two weeks ago.  Somehow I published this post.  It meant to be for today.  So here it is.
A few people requested me to do  this TopNote Dresser tutorial.  It is quite simple to make this TopNote dresser. I got this adorable box design from cleaning up my mess.  Isn't it great to make a mess sometime?

 

The bottom two draws are match boxes  style and the top one is the pizza box style.

 

Here is the measurement for the pizza box: 6 x 9 1/16. 

(Note: this picture is not a printable template.) 

Score on the 6" size - 1" from each end. 

Score on the 9 1/16" @ 1, 4, 5, 8 1/16 (Note: from 5" score line to 8 1/16" score is 3 1/16" big, this will be the lid for the pizza box. This will allow the pizza box to close nicely).

 

This is the match box measurement: 7 x 8 card stock or pattern paper

On the 7" size score @ 1, 2, 5, and 6

On the 8" size score @ 1, 2, 6, and 7

Cut off where I marked with the "X" or three of the squares on the corner.

  

Two bands for the match boxes, each measure 3 x 11

Score @ 4 1/8, 5 1/4, 9 3/8, and 10 1/2

                                              

                                          Here I marked "L" for the lid and "B" for the box base on the pizza box.

                                                 Decorate all your pieces before assemble them.


                                              This is the pizza box piece. I forgot to take the shot with the brads. You should at this point add the embellishment.  Then you can assemble the box.

                                                                
                             These are the match box pieces. Again, add the brads before assembling   the boxes.

 

 This is the band for the match box.  You should have two of them.

  

Wrap the band around the match box so it will fit properly.

  

Next, you will need 4 TopNote pieces.  

You will adhere two of the top notes pieces to one of the match box.  

The other two top note pieces, you will adhere them to the pizza box.

You should have three pieces that look like this.

 Now you are going to stack them together. 

Take the middle match box , without the top note, and apply adhesive.  I used liquid adhesive so that I can center it easily.

Then apply adhesive on the match box and place the pizza box on top of that.  Ta! da! you are done!

Decorate the top draw/dresser anyway you like.

Note: if you use all designer papers, it's very quick to make this project. I had used non SU pattern papers and it took no time at all but it didn't come out as nice. I would love to see what you came up with.

Elegant Bouquet Cards

I wanted to post this yesterday but other things got in first and never got around to posting and earlier today my computer crashed along with the internet service.  Thank goodness I have a very handy man husband who can fix almost anything (smiling).  Let me clarify that he can fix almost anything that is mechanical related from computer, software and hardware; car - he never let anyone other mechanic touches our cars except during car inspection. He fixed houses. I did fix houses with him.   Sssh! don't tell him that I am bragging about him.

Well, this is suppose to be some quick cards but I played around with the Stampin" pastel chalk so these cards took a little more time to make.
Here was how I created these cards.  First, I brayed the debossed side of the embossing folder.  Place whisper white card stock in the folder and then ran it through the big shot.

 

Then I used Q-tip to pick up the chalk and colored the flowers.

  

After I colored the flowers, I felt that the cards still needed something.  I tried the rhinestone and love it!  I bought these rhinestone from Joann Fabric.  It was a 1 lb. bag.  Do you know how many rhinestone there are?  Too many to count.  I was very happy with the purchased.  I don't need to buy rhinestone for a LONG time!  Oh, they came in different sizes.

  

 These two cards I used vellum.  I didn't really like them because after I colored the chalk came off and smeared the cards.

Asian Artistry Cards

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for stopping by again.  As you can see, lately, I am a little flowers and butterflies frantic (is that the right word?)  Every card that I've created lately, all had flowers and butterflies.  For these two cards I borrowed Sandi MacIver's gold embossing techniques.  I didn't case her card (yay!) If you are my regular readers, you knew I always had a hard time creating any card.   But I thought lately, I've made some improvement on card making.  These two cards came together pretty quick.

I didn't use watercoloring technique.  I just colored Real Red marker and on Very Vanilla card stock.  I colored two of these flowers prior to the two I used on these two cards.  I left it to dry.  After about half an hour I thought the ink would dry already.  I touched them and got smeared (grrr...). Tossed them.

So I made these two.  This time after I colored them I left them to dry at least 1 hour and guess what? They both got smeared again!  I didn't want to throw them away.  Then I used clear embossing powder to cover the flower that stopped it from smearing more.  Then I added the dragon fly to cover up the smeared parts.  I thought it work out great.

 

 This second card here I didn't want to use the dragon fly to cover up the smeared ink.  The ribbon covered it a little.  Don't look too close the red line is there.

  

Like my water mark? (smiling)  I've read a few posts recently.  There were some people out there that would just copy (images) from other blogs without the blog owners' permission and pasted the image on their own blog or magazine cover.  I am not worry about any one copy my creations but I thought it's neat to have a water mark.

Card stocks: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Real Red

Ink: Real Red and Old Olive

Clear Embossing Powder, Gold Embossing Powder, Ribbon, Polka Dot embossing folder and Eyelet border punch.
