Crochet African Flowers Play Mat

Hello,

Sharing another crochet item that I made while I was in Florida.

These were made using Red Heart supper saver yarn.  I was thinking of making a throw but the squares were so stiff so I made these squares into a play mat for my daughter instead. You can fine the tutorial here.

Thanks for looking!

Crochet Purse# 3

Hello,

I finally finished this purse that I started back in May.  The sewing slowed me down so I found another way to do it.  Instead of use sewing machine, I hand sew the entire purse liner and I didn't use the tutorial that was offered here. It didn't turn out as pretty as the one on the other blog but I am satisfied  with the result.

The handles were just the single crochet stitches.
Since I hand sew the entire liner.  I didn't use any batting. I  used a very thin fabric.  I added two pockets on the inside, one pocket on each side.   I used the magnet closure found at Joann Fabric.  The finished purse is about 11" x 9" not counting the handles.
Thanks for looking!

One Penny, two Pennies, $$$$$

Hello,

I saved one baby formula can from 12 years ago as my piggy bank. I recently dressed it up a little.   It is a big can 5 x 10 inches.  My daughter likes to play with the can when there were not much coins in it so two of the flowers fell off.

Last year the total added up to around $200 and the year before that it was a little under $200. I was surprised how much they all added up this year.  There must be lots of quarters in there because the total was,

 drum roll please,

$320.23.  A little extra money to support my new habit. lol

A local Joann Fabric store was moving so they had their fabrics on sale at 75% off.   So I was in and out of there 3 times in one week.  When a lady saw my cart, she commended that I must  sew a lot and I told her  I don't sew.  Her eye brows went up. lol

Home Sweet Home

Hello Dear Bloggers!

We are finally back home! We spent 20 hours on the road on Saturday and got back home 6:30 AM Sunday morning.  It is so good to be back home!  There is no place like home.  Whoever said that is so true.

I thought I'll share a few random pictures of my trip. Nothing exciting thought.

We had some fruit called Logan. There were plenty of this fruit trees in Florida, but it is much cheaper to buy the fruit in Philadelphia China Town.
they tasted like sugar ball.  So sweet and fresh!  The black one is the seed.
Cruise ship went by while we were at the beach at Jetty Park not too far from Kennedy Space Center.

Then on a different day at the same park we saw a sub marine surface.  Cool huh!

And off we went to Key West

The traffic was bumper to bumper both ways and as you can see there were only two lanes, one lane going south and one lane going north.

The water are everywhere. We stopped along the road  and dropped pepperoni and cheese bread in the river/lake and these fish came up.  The big black one called the anglefish.  There are tiny fish black and yellow on the left side too. Don't know what they are called.
this blue and yellow is called the parrot fish

then my husband caught a lobster. It was a big one.  He wasn't supposed to keep it because he didn't have lobster license.

So to get rid of the evident he did this.  Well, I sort of help him get rid of the evident.  We were pattern in crime (lol).  I went to a near by Home Depot trying to buy a small grill but it didn't have it.  So my survival skill kicked in.  I bought the metal rack, 6 pieces of brick and a pack of chalk coal  to build the fire.  He was so excited to get the lobster and it was his birthday.  How could you say no? Are you grossed out with that octopus?  Me too!  I don't like sea food.  I can't stand the fishy smell!

Then we continued on to the end of Key West
I haven't seen a banana plant in years.
Love the orchid on the coconut tree!

this is what I wanted to see, 90 miles to Cuba!  There were people lining up to take picture with this sign. The sun was brutal!  My sister got in the line.  She thought I needed to take picture with it but I told her I needed only that sign.  She said I could have gotten it from the net.  I told her it wasn't the same as seeing it myself.

We saw a few iguanas at the pool where we stayed.
Then it was time to get out of Key West.

The most exciting thing about this trip got to be this one.  My husband caught a Nurse shark! near where he caught the lobster.  The shark was at least 70 lbs. and his line was supposed to hold only 15lbs. It took him 45 minutes to rail it to shore.  He caught many sharks before but this was the biggest one.

To proof that he caught it he went in the water and picked up the shark.

Here he cut the hook off and let the shark goes.

Then it was time to head back to Merritt Island where we stayed for the rest of the trip.
We did some serious work there.  What kind of serious work? I will share with you in another time.

Total mileages we travel for this trip.

Thanks for stopping by!

Taking A Break

Greeting From Meritt Island, Florida,

I'm taking a little break.  The children wanted to visit Florida so after 20 hours on the road we are here now.  We don't do anything fun just relax and visiting family.  My internet wireless is so slow so I am just going to take some break from blogging and I will catch up with you all when I get back.

Until then....

Quilling Grapes Doily Note Card/ Online buyer beware

Hello,

I saw this card on Pinterest
I was working on quilling then so I changed to quilling grapes.

On to a different topic.  This morning when I logged  in to my dashboard this is what I found

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Pat's Birthday gift":

Hi, I found someone than has your photos of quilling jewelry and she says she made them, I give you the link if you want check it.

Thank you Anonymous for letting me know about this. I made that set for my friend's birthday gift about 2 years ago.  You can see it here.

I wasn't mad or angry about this.  On the other hand I was flattered that someone like my quilling jewelry so much that she/he claimed it their.  I guessed that person didn't know how to make the box to go with the set that was why she/he stole only the quilling photo.  And my photo wasn't even a good one.  I tried to contact the seller but couldn't get further than that first page.

So from now on I will have to water mark my work.

I will feel very sorry for the person who would buy this set.  So online buyer be ware.

Thank you for visiting.  Have a wonderful weekend!
